Inter midfielder Joao Mario enjoys Renaissance loan to Sporting CP, Italian media say
After struggling to make an impact at Inter, Portuguese midfielder Joao Mario is enjoying a return to form on loan at Sporting CP in his homeland.
The 28-year-old joined Inter on a € 40million deal with Sporting in 2016 after impressing Portugal by winning the European Championship that summer, but failed met expectations and joined his former club at the start of the season.
A return to the Lisbon club saw Joao Mario regain his form and the midfielder was instrumental in Sporting’s 2-1 win over Santa Clara in the Primeira Liga yesterday, setting up a winner in the 94th minute, as the ‘reported FCInter1908.it.
Indeed, the Portuguese international has emerged as a key protagonist as Sporting edged Braga by 12 points at the top of the table, with the Leos closing in on their first league title since 2002.
Joao Mario has scored four goals in 69 appearances for Inter, with his time at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza interrupted by loan spells at West Ham United and Lokomotiv Moscow, before returning to Sporting.
