Cities must grow back for the sake of freedom
City Councilor Linda Ryno emailed me last week, after reading my criticism of her Bret Silveira and James Casey didn’t want to put the issue of allowing employees to decide on the agenda. ‘they want to be vaccinated or not.
At the September 27 meeting, Ryno didn’t explain why she didn’t want this item on the agenda. But in her email, she explained: “Just to be clear: I don’t believe in vaccine mandates, but whether the federal government or the state can somehow tie the funding we get them to such a mandate, the city should see what it would give. Cost us. I think the vice-mayor wanting a discussion when we don’t have all the facts was premature.
That’s the problem in California: If cities or counties don’t do what the state dictates, they threaten to withhold funding. We saw what happened when the Tory Mayor and Atwater City Council declared Atwater a “sanctuary city” since the lockdown in 2020, even though Newsom illegally mandated a shutdown. Mark Ghilarducci, director of the California Office of Emergency Services (OES), an unelected bureaucrat, sent threat letters to leaders of the towns of Atwater and Coalinga saying the state would withhold coronavirus relief money for their actions. I would have said, save your money and have every resident come to Sacramento and raise holy hell.
Apparently, only California’s top chiefs are the only ones who can declare “sanctuary” status to thumb their noses at federal immigration law, but when cities want to do so to keep their own businesses out of business. overwhelmed by illegal state mandates, they draw on the old threat of “we will withhold your funding”.
People have the power to disconnect anti-freedom office holders but they are too used to being told what to do and being obedient little servants.

The crowd that protested outside the Stanislaus County Education Office last week was a group of concerned, high-caliber Americans who believe freedom is being usurped at an alarming rate. Undercover police detectives did not have to spy on them from the imposing parking structure nearby. Some signs went straight to the point: “Children will NOT be an EXPERIENCE to make you feel safe”, “God gave stronger immunity than vaccines”, “Don’t make your political decisions about students”, “My choice, no mandate! “
If you think about it, this whole COVID disaster in this country has been about the money. Obscene sums of money that helped usher in a democrat’s dream of socialism. They shut down your business, causing you to lose work and you can’t pay rent, but then they save you by printing money that we don’t have. Hospitals are rolling in COVID dough. Drug makers have made billions. Now Pfizer is asking the federal government to allow the use of its COVID vaccines for children aged 5 to 11, even if the children show only mild symptoms. Do you think money could be the motivator?
Meanwhile, a lot of people are finally starting to get the hang of it. COVID is no longer a threat like the annual flu was to children. My own grandsons contracted COVID and they had mild chest congestion for a short stretch. They are back to youth football as healthy as a horse. I find myself asking, “And we closed the schools last year for that?” Why?”

A lady named Fernanda Borges told me at the rally that she believes California has become a third world nation. As someone who has lived in the Valley since 1966, I can say that she is absolutely right. California just gets worse and worse over time. Tesla is moving to Texas now.
Over the weekend we see a homeless woman burned to the ground in a fire she started outside the Brenden Theater. If that doesn’t smell of Third World nation status, I don’t know what does. The people who sleep in the oleanders along the 99 in Ceres, come on, governor!

The Biden administration fired the FBI on parents speaking out at school board meetings. As you have probably heard, parents are fed up with the Liberal program in public schools and fight in board meetings where they are not listened to. In Virginia, a board meeting was raged when some parents were arrested after in turn talking about teaching critical breed theory (CRT). This is where white children feel guilty for being white, which is a classic example of racism itself. Now these sane parents are being declared by their government as “national terrorists”.
And you wonder why people are longing for Trump to come back to power?
I am not in favor of threatening elected officials with violence. But stop someone for speaking out of turn? I saw more disrespect and threats at Ceres city council meetings from an individual, but I did not see him handcuffed.

I know I’m a little old-fashioned and cringe at the myriad of ways American society is moving in language and fashion, but really, do educators think it should be okay to lower the standards and let students wear pajamas to school? This is the case in Turlock, where the school board has adopted a sort of senseless “gender-neutral dress code” designed to make the way girls dress “fair”.
Their first mistake was allowing students to have their say in an effort to be “inclusive” (I hate the way the left uses that word). The students (read this girls) didn’t like the old policy of banning nude tops and spaghetti straps. They claimed that athletes can walk around shirtless during physical education and sports. They want to show off their stomachs and shoulders.
Two years ago I was dropping a teenage girl off at a high school in this county and saw how many girls walked to school dressed like prostitutes on South Ninth Street. Let’s face it, in this TikTok generation, sex sells and girls get attention by the way they dress.
The students therefore passed a petition that would not pass the logical smell test. He protested against the old dress code as, and I quote: “unfairly targets female students, sexualizes minors and humiliates / shames women for their bodies, but they promote the belief that male students are incapable of controlling themselves.” They reinforce the fact that a student’s education (heaven forbid him to be distracted by someone’s shoulder) is more important than a student’s education.
So nude tops and spaghetti straps desexualize girls? Eh? The old dress code where you couldn’t show your thighs, stomach and shoulders humiliates and shames women? I think it’s a bit backwards.
The students suggested that some boys were allowed to go shirtless while a woman couldn’t. I think even male athletes shouldn’t take their shirts off because the intention is usually to show off the biceps and six-pack to others with less developed breasts.
If we’re going to be really, really honest, a lot of teenage girls dress the way they do because they are the center of men’s attention. Why else would teenage girls wear the word PINK on their buttocks? So the guys won’t notice it?
At least one member of the Turlock school board had some common sense. Mary Jackson didn’t want the bar lowered and said she wanted every student to graduate and know how to dress for an interview.
Allowing girls to wear pajamas to school is really bad taste.

I attended the Homecoming Parade in Hughson on Friday and couldn’t help but think that this little town does it really well.
Hughson is a refreshing step back in time. It’s almost like it’s in the 1970s again. Children are allowed to ride on floats and parade downtown and the whole town comes out. Ceres used to but not anymore. Children even hand out candy, a bygone practice in this era of trial. The tanks obviously had a lot of help from adults. It is as if the whole community is mobilizing around its schools and its young people.
Hughson Avenue, the main street in town, was clean. Then I noticed a sign on the post: “Strictly Enforced Waste Free Zone. “
Even the Hughson water tank is elegantly painted. The Ceres Water Tower has looked run down for over a decade now and everyone sees it on Highway 99 on a daily basis.
Ceres could take inspiration from Hughson.

Joe Biden’s vaccination mandate creates hell for the country.
Southwest Airlines canceled more than 1,000 flights last weekend. Official words were that it was due to air traffic control issues, but many suspect it has to do with Southwest’s new COVID-19 vaccine mandate, which its pilots have asked a court to block. Were the cancellations the result of “sick” pilots who refused to be vaccinated? Amtrak also canceled trains Sunday afternoon due to “unforeseen crew problems.” There is talk of a general strike in the making, a response to the massive layoffs of other working and middle class Americans – nurses and police – who have refused the vaccine.
What a mess Joe and Newsom have made.
