Brady and Buchanan meet with WTO Director General Okonjo-Iweala in bipartisan meeting to reaffirm US commitment to WTO reforms
WASHINGTON, DC – Members of the Ways and Means Committee convened a bipartisan meeting with the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of Nigeria, to discuss the commitment of States- United with WTO reforms and global dispute settlement mechanisms to advance free and fair trade around the world.
After the meeting, Republican Leader Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Trade Subcommittee Republican Leader Vern Buchanan (R-FL) said:
âWe were delighted to meet Director General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at this critical moment in the history of the World Trade Organization. As we have discussed today, our commitment to the success of the WTO is unwavering. insisted that reform is needed at the WTO and that congressional bipartisan support for WTO reform is stronger than ever.
“We look forward to partnering with the administration and Dr Ngozi to craft new rules to remove barriers to trade in a 21stThe economy of the century. “
